'The Undead film making process'

The Making of UNDEAD illustrated the many challenges of film making.
this included  special makeup affects, the time condition of shooting and the use & making of dangerous props in the film making process.

The first most challenging aspect of the production process in the film making would be having making the actors look like real Zombies. The makeup artist must of had so much trouble at the start trying to design a zombie look for the actors that were taking on the role as a zombie. This is different because he needed to rush his job in order to stay up date with the rest of the team.

The second challenging aspects would be being able to shoot in the harsh weather conditions and doing so at exhausting times of even 1am. It was a very draining experience but with all that hard work they finally got through the film making process and created a great film. It also put a big impact on getting the right amount of shots they needed in order to make the film.

The third challenging aspects would also be the dangers of putting the film together, both mentally and physically. An example of the dangers are,  fumes of the plastic  weren’t good due to time schedules, dangerous making of props and the use of weapons used in the film making process.  This also included crew members driving without a licence.  

All the crew members must of had their own struggles in different areas of the film making process.  They must have worked hard together in order to make a good film. All the sleepless nights, bad weather condition, all that stress they must have been under. But because of this, it gave them more confidence in themselves to finish the film.

Radio industryThe course of the radio industry depend son your skills in planning, production and presention of the radio industry. The radio industry aims to extend a range of skillls associated with the radio industry. the skills that you will need to have to take on this radio industry is areas such as researching,, recording, interviewing, editing and writing for radio. One of the biggest skills for radio industry would be working affectively as a team.

The course will also involve:

1. Explanation by teaching staff and discussion & analysis by students of professional radio production techniques and conventions.

2. Demonstrations by teaching staff of how to operate professional production equipment (audio recording and editing, panel operation).

3. Reading, research and reflection by students into radio production using available texts and critical listening of relevant radio programs.

4. Student production work will be heard and discussed in class to share the breadth of experiences gained in the study of this course.

'Production roles'

D.O.P- Director of photography
A director of photography is someone who supervises the filming of movies, commercials, television series, or any other sort of filmed production. The director of photography is responsible for the look and feel of the film. There are three things that you need to become a director of photography which is training, experience and a good eye. People that are interested in these roles all go to film school.

Producer
A producer is someone who creates ideas for a film or a televison show. They are basically incharged of the whole film making process. They are also responsible for managing the finances and they are involved through out the making of the movie.

Editor
The editors role is to esemble and organise the shots of the film. Once the film is finished it's up to them to put each of the shots together in the final process of the film making. Editing is one of the most important parts of the film making process.

Cinematographer
Cinematography comes from the Ancient Greek and means writing with motion. During the filming process the cinematographer and d.o.p work close together to get the right shot.

Composer
The composer is incharged of the music in the fim. They chose a type of music for the movie aswell as working with sound to show the audience that something surprising is going to happen etc.

"Jaws"

1. Where did the idea of Jaws originate? How did it become a film? Who contributed to the screenplay?
The idea of Jaws originated from the author Peter Benchley, who wrote the story about a fisherman that a shark had attacked. The director of Jaws Spielberg was the reason why the novel had been created into a film. The people who contributed to the screenplay were Steven Spielberg ( director),Peter Benchley (author) and Carl Gottieb.

2. Why are particular scenes removed from the film?
There has 2 reasons why particular scenes were removed from the film. Some scenes involved heaps of violence and the novel had to much detail about the movie for it to interest the audience.

3. During the production stage, what sort of footage did the producers commission in preperations for the film? How was the script changed?
The producers wanted footage of an actual real life shark that was taken in Austrailia for the film. The script was changed because the producers were having trouble filming the under water scene when the shark was attacking the cage with the person inside of it.

4. What was involved during the casting process?
The shark was the main star of the film. Spielberg decided to pick Lorraine Grey, who played Ellen Brody in the film "Jaws". He chose her for a particular scene because he like her acting in her previous films.

5. What is location scouting? Why did Spielberg choose these locations?
Location scouting is when a group of people search for different places to shoot particular scenes. "Jaws" was shot at Martha's Vineyard because the director wanted a place next to the beach o the land was un-noticable when they were filming.

6. Describe how actors contributed to the production of Jaws?
The actors contributed to the production of Jaws by representing the characters to the audience. A quote was mentioned by Roy Shielder that said "were gonna need a bigger boat" this was mentioned because they needed a bigger boat because it would be easier for the shark to attack them in the small boat.

7. What does a composer do? What considerations were taken into account when writing the music for Jaws?
A composer is incharged of writin pieces of music for films. The music that was made for Jaws was just achange of notes that went low to high when the shark would be about to attack or even when it just appears. It basically give the audience a hint that something suss is going to happen.

8. What is D.O.P? How was D.O.P involved in the production of Jaws?
D.O.P stands for director of photography. The D.O.P needed special cameras to shoot different parts of the film.

9. What did Spielberg do as a result of test screenings?
Spielberg wanted the right time limit in one of e scenes when a persons head suddenly appears on the screen and this is the reason why he wanted fhe timing to be spot on.

10. What does the editor do? Who was the editor of Jaws and what was her responsibility?
The editor basically puts finishing touches to the film to make it look realistic. The editor of Jaws was Burn Fields and her responsibility was to basically edit the whole film that Spilberg had given her.

11. Based on the documentary, what were the responsibilities of a producer?
The responsibility of a producer is to put all the story ideas together and actually make a film out of them. The producer takes part through out the whole making of the film.

12. What does the producer do once principle photography has finished?
Once principle photography has finished the producer has to organise different parts of the film itself.

13. What did the production designer do on the film?
The production designer created a real life view of the film so the audience could know what the story is about.

14. What role do you have the skills to fulfill?
I think i would have the skills to take on the role as a editor of the film because it will be a good opportunity to create my own ideas for the film and make it a decent one.
